Val Coffee is a local coffeehouse that strives to provide quality service, quality coffee, and quality experience. Founded by Kenyon Val Abarca in 2021, we started as a home-based and online cake and pastry business until the product range expanded, and now, we occupy a single location in Lugait, Misamis Oriental.

THE INSPIRATION

Mr. Abarca loves the idea of small local coffee houses which gives a sense of community and a humbling experience. He took inspiration from a small local coffeehouse in Kyoto, Japan. He wanted people to have good quality locally sourced coffee, with space to talk with others, unwind, or simply to relax without having the obligation to spend a lot of money.

The owner never dreamed of opening his own coffee shop way back before the pandemic. His café venture began one early morning when his mom was brewing coffee and Mr. Kenyon, as a baker himself, always keep cake scraps and excess for snacks so they can enjoy it later. It just happened that he and his mom loved the idea of cake as a coffee pairing and how it could be better if they try it with good quality espresso based coffee drinks. Right there and then, they gathered their ideas enthusiastically and started their small coffee business venture.

WHY VAL COFFEE?

Their initial business name was Val Gateau, Val depicts the owner’s second name and Gateau is a French word for “rich cakes”. But since he wanted the coffeehouse to be more catchy and relatable, they opt for Val Coffee instead.

THE LOGO

The logo for Val Coffee is also pretty simple. It illustrates a cup of coffee at the same time it symbolizes the iconic windows in their coffeehouse, where the customers order and claim their delicious coffee and foods.

OUR PRODUCT COLLECTION

Currently, Val Coffee offers an array of iced and hot beverages, both coffee and non-coffee-based, along with blended drinks, light snacks, and desserts that complement our beverage selection. Moreover, we offer rice meals, Mexican delicacies, pasta, baked goods, and sandwiches. You can browse and order our products here.
